I ventured to Kentucky this past weekend for the Easter holiday. I spent my weekend surrounded by family, eating my mother’s wonderful food and looking at lots of baby stuff. Lots of people rubbed my belly at church…..and I don’t even really have a belly yet.
We got to hear the baby’s heartbeat at our last doctor’s appointment. Everything sounded strong and healthy. I thought it sounded like The Little Engine That Could……just chugging along to the beat of its own drum. The heartbeat was “fast” according to the doctor, but she doesn’t believe in the theory of fast=girl and slow=boy. (Since we won’t find out the sex of the baby until May, I am sure there will be more to blog about there!)
In other baby news, it is about the size of a lemon now and has its own fingerprints. How weird is that???
A family member was taken from us abruptly this week. Sometimes things happen so fast that they are so hard to comprehend. Jacky Allen was a wonderful man and he will be missed dearly.
The March flowers have been out for weeks and they are still beautiful. I am so glad that Spring is finally here. I can’t wait for it to get just a little warmer. It seems like it has been such a long winter.
I am invited to a Tea Party this weekend……how much fun is that?!?! It is to raise money for Relay For Life and should be loads of fun. Does anyone want to put on a girly dress and hat and go with me?
After numerous MRIs and scans and other medical stuff I don’t understand, Birddog still had to have a painful procedure done this week to determine that he has back problems. The doctor injected dye into his spine with six-inch needles. The good news is that we know exactly what the problem is now. The bad news is the solution is back surgery.
March Madness has taken over our office again. Unfortunately, I am not fairing as well as I did last year. I have a feeling that my regime as the inaugural winner and current reigning champion is coming to a bitter end. Even though they totally messed up my brackets, I am proud that Western Kentucky is still hanging in there.

I Hope I Can Afford Their Therapy
I have fallen deeply in love with a website. Etsy is a web market that focuses on handmade items. I guess that it could be labeled as an eBay craft fair. There are so many cool items for sale. Homemade prints, clothes, furniture, jewelry and the list goes on and on.
I have been having a blast looking in the children section. I have put a few pictures of some of my favorite items below. These items make me impatient for my kiddos teenage years when I get to pull out these pictures and embarrass them to their girl/boyfriend. I will savor that thought for years to come.

The 'New' Hasn't Worn Off Yet
When I moved to Nashville, I vowed that I was going to take full advantage of my new city. I was going to see and do all the wonderful things that the ‘city folk’ did. I wanted to soak in the culture and history of Nashville. Well, here I am seven years later and I haven’t even gotten close to finishing my list.
Here are a few of the local things that I would LOVE to do:
Visit the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere
Steal somebody’s kid and go to the Adventure Science Center
Spend an afternoon at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts
(especially while they still have the Modern Masters Exhibit displayed)
Watch the horses run at the Iroquoise Steeplechase
Go to the Grand Ole Opry when it returns to the Ryman
Visit Belle Meade Plantation for their Fall Festival
Head to Portland for the Middle Tennessee Strawberry Festival
Drive the full Natchez Trace Parkway
Take the Living History Tour at the Nashville City Cemetery
Take the NashTrash Tour in the big pink bus
Venture to Bell Buckle for the Annual RC & Moonpie Festival
Take the Downtown Nashville Ghost Tour
Hike to Fall Creek Falls
Get lost in the gardens at the Hermitage
Go to a song writers night at the Bluebird Café
Visit the Hatch Show Print
Tour the Country Music Hall of Fame
Revisit Cheekwood Botanical Gardens
Spend a Saturday at Beachhaven Jazz on the Lawn
Eat some really-bad-for-me food at the Tennessee State Fair
I know that alot of these things seem 'touristy' but I would still LOVE to do each and every one! Any takers? Who wants to go with me? C’mon, it will be fun!

Catching Up
We got three plus inches of snow on Friday night! It is pretty much gone now, but it was beautiful to watch. I made a big pot of vegetable beef soup and called my mother every hour to see how much snow she had.
Unfortunantly, the snow kept me from venturing to Baby Shelby's birthday party on Friday night. From the pictures, I can tell that it was a wild time!
My camera has decided to go on the fritz. I feel like I have lost my right arm.
I bought a baby bed that I am really excited about.
Someone built a huge snowman in our backyard, but we aren’t sure who! It is too cute, but scares me every time I look out the kitchen window. I am not used to anyone standing in our backyard, even if it is a snowman.
I hate, hate, hate time changes.
I love, love, love the church that I have been attending. I am so excited every week to hear what the pastor has to say and I hum the songs in my head all the time. I also love reading the pastor’s blog.
Birddog accidentally hit my car with his truck in our driveway. This is just payback for me backing into his truck a little over a year ago.
We are done dealing with lawyers for a long time! Knock on wood. (No offence Lauren!)
I finally got my hair cut on Saturday. I was starting to look like a frizzball.
I got a wonderful card in the mail from Tobilee. It made me smile.
My heart is really heavy this week. I am sorry I have been quite.

Bunco!
I bunco-ed last night.
Get your mind out of the gutter, it is nothing like that.
Last night was the first meeting of our Bunco group and it was so much fun! For those of you that don’t know, Bunco is a dice game that requires twelve ladies to play.
I was so excited when this group of ladies asked me to Bunco with them! I am tickled that they like me enough to include me! (Looking past the fact that I am the only one with a Bunco game and I am automatically a designated driver due to pregnancy factors.) They are a fun group of women that come from a wide array of backgrounds. I had so much fun getting to meet new faces last night.
From the outside looking in, I am sure that we looked ridiculous. With shamrock headbands on all of our heads, we giggled and ate and screamed and ate some more. I can’t wait until next month’s Bunco night!

Horticultrual Homicide
I potted a plant this weekend. I have no idea what kind of plant that it is. It really doesn’t matter. By the time I remember to ask my mother what the name is, the plant will be dead.
I am honestly surprised that the plant has lived thus far. I saw it at my mother’s house and thought that it had a really neat zigzag shape to the stem. She cut me off a few twigs and told me to put them in water to root. I think that was before Christmas.
These poor little cuttings have been soaking in water and screaming for dirt for weeks. They would look at me from their sad little glass of water and say “Look! I have roots now! For the love of photosynthesis, please put me in dirt!”
I think deep down, these plants know that I am a horticultural slacker.
I can sense their disappointment. That makes me want to try harder.
