There is an old wive’s tale that states that whatever you do on New Year’s Day is what you will do for the entire year. If this rings true, I will be spending the year 2008 eating good food and surrounded by great friends. Elwood, Jake and I ventured to Old Spencer Mill to ring in the New Year with our friends Donna, Douglas, Squirrel, Penny and Marley. Squirrel made a killer batch of Hoppin’ John, complete with black-eyed peas, hog-jaw, rice and all the things that are to be consumed for prosperity in the New Year. Donna found the dime and a good time was had by all. We even had a good covering of snow to make the day perfect!
