Sick Yet Again

I spent the majority of my weekend in the same position as the baby……..the fetal position. A nasty virus snuck up on me Friday morning and reared its ugly head around lunch time. I spent my entire weekend laying down and trying to sleep.

After a frantic call to my doctor and a late night emergency trip to Walgreens by Tobilee, I got a dose of a prescription that made the nausea disappear. One of the cool things that the doctor said was that I didn’t need to worry about eating if I didn’t feel like it. The baby only needs two calories a day right now and it would take the calories before my body did.

How cool is that? Two calories a day! That is like a supermodel diet.

On a positive note, Kyle is still in perfect health. Every time that I would leave a room, he would douse the area with Lysol. He avoided me completely by staying in his office and only coming out for food, bathroom breaks and to check if I was breathing. I love my paranoid hypochondriac husband!

I am still not feeling up to par today, but at least I can sit upright and pretend to function normally. Hopefully I will feel much better tomorrow.

First Professional Photo Session

Birddog Quote Of The Day

While I am filling out paperwork at the OBGYN waiting room, Birddog is checking out Christina Aguilera's baby in the new issue of People. (I think that he was looking more at Christina than the baby.)

"Babe, do you have any history of birth defects or abnormalities in you family?"

"Just weird hair"

Carolina On My Mind

You look like a monkey and you smell like one too!
Happy Birthday Sweet Caroline!
Good times never seem so good!

Ice Ice Baby

My cousin that works for the electric company has been a busy fella! He sent a few pictures to show the damage from the ice storm that just passed. I love the vibrant color of the street sign, cones and workers against the stark icey background. What a wonderful picture!

Super Sunday

There were no Ninja Karate Vampires at this year's Superbowl gathering, but we had a good time anyway. Donna's house always filled with good food and good friends. We all tend to watch more commercials than football.
(As an added bonus to all the fun, Penny and Marley did the ring test and determined that I will have a baby boy.)

In A Child's Eyes

Angela, our neighbor's granddaughter, is so excited that we are having a baby. She drew this picture of our family for us and brought it over as soon as she heard the news. If you cannot tell, it is of me, Kyle, Jake, Elwood and our house. If you look closely, you can see the baby in my tummy!

Double The Fun?

Congratulations usually follow when someone finds out that we are expecting our first child. There are all the questions that I enjoy answering now, but inevitably know that I will hate answering again and again and again and again.

My friend Joel was not the first to ask if I could be carrying twins. Truth be told, there is a chance that it might be twins. Twins are in my family tree on both sides and there are distant cousins in my generation that have had twins. Almost everyone would love for it to be twins, except for maybe the person that would have to exert both babies from her body.

But I have to admit, after seeing pictures of Joel’s twin sons…..it almost makes me think differently. Connor and Ryan are the spitting image of their dad……and cute as a button!

Tiny Blessings

Welcome to the world Kash Morgan Heath!

Kash is a special little guy. He was born with a little heart problem and had to make a special trip to Louisville today. He is going to have surgery tomorrow and should be in the hospital for about a week. Please keep Kash and his Mommy Emily and Daddy Jay in your prayers.

***UPDATE***
Kash had his surgery on Tuesday and everything went well. When the doctor was using the wire to put the balloon in, it made a tear exactly where the incision needed to be. Please continue to keep him in your prayers!

No Autographs Please

Most people around Paducah recognize Clay and Lauren's face from being in so many WPSD commercials. People actually think that my brother is a doctor at the Sleep Center. Well, there is another family member that is bidding for a little media time. My Uncle Larry went through treatment at Saint Frances Medical Center and the nurses in the radiation department recommended him for the new advertisements! The ads will run in the Southeastern Missourian and several newspapers in the area. You can check out the full article here. I don't think that they could have picked a more handsome fella!

Pitter Patter is Louder on Hardwood

Our living room has become a disaster area. Kyle has ripped out all the carpet and is in the process of painting. Ever since I urinated on a stick and turned our universe on edge, he has gone crazy getting the house ready. If I had known that I would have gotten hard wood floors, I would have gotten pregnant a LONG time ago!

Sandy Beaches

Clay and Lauren just got back from their Honeymoon. Since the wedding was on December 8th, they opted to take a late Honeymoon and enjoy the warm Carribean weather in January while the rest of us were freezing our tuckases off back at home. Looks like they had a GREAT time!

I Am Alive!

Last week my boss asked me if everything was okay. He had read my blog and ran down to my office to make sure that I had not hung myself with a paperclip chain. Yesterday, he reminded me that I had not updated since I had left such a depressing post last week. He knew that I was okay, but other people needed to know that I had not slit my wrists.

The truth is everything is fine. I guess I was just having one of those days. I am a girl, I am totally allowed to do that. I think that the cloudy days of this cold snap are prodding at my mood. Riding extremely high on the estrogen train does not help things either.

There is change in the air. Good things are happening. I promise to keep you updated!

Plus, it is so hard to be in a bad mood when you open your email and there are pictures of Addison looking so cute that I could literally eat her with a spoon!

Mind Games

On New Years Day, my friend Penny went over my astrological chart for the year. While part of me really doesn’t want to believe in readings of stars and planets, part of what she said really makes sense. She determined that I am a true Capricorn. She named personality traits and mannerisms that fit me perfectly. She even correctly analyzed the foods that I eat and how I eat them. Some of the things that she said just gave me the heebie-jeebies.

One thing in particular really stands out in my head. She said that if something that I want to happen doesn’t, then I blame myself for things that I have done in the past. For example, if one of my favorite television shows is a repeat when I wanted it to be new, then it is because I didn't do that load of laundry that desperately needs to be done. Silly, I know, but this is something that I have consistently done since I was young. Something that I had never really thought about until she said it.

Lately, this has been the norm. I guess that with the passing of another year and addition of another digit to my age, it was to be expected. Things that I wanted to be accomplished by a certain date or age just haven’t happened. This has sent my emotions into a downward spiral.

I am beating myself up more and more lately. Sleepless nights and loss of energy quickly followed. But I am slowly getting out of my funk. I just need to readjust and not blame myself.

Maybe my planets are aligning more now or maybe I am just getting to know myself better. I know that God has a plan and I need to trust in him. I just wish that he would give me a hint of what that plan is……so I know that I am not completely losing my mind.
